Helpful tips for international travel

Always take several photocopies of your passport with you. Spread the copies out between pieces of luggage. For example, one in your backpack, one in your carry-on. That way, if you lose one, you will have a copy. Make sure when making a copy of your passport that you include the barcode on the back page. That will make replacing your lost passport much easier.

Research and prepare for the new ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). New as of 2025, this is an electronic system that screens travelers before they arrive in the European Union. You will need to apply online through the official ETIAS website or mobile app. You simply need to fill out a form with some personal details like passport information and travel plans. There will be a small fee of €7 to receive your electronic authorization; most are processed in minutes and you need to do this before booking your travel to Europe.
